Gatsby Meets Grunge: Meagan Massa Hankin

It isn't every day that you get the opportunity to work with people who's souls blend so perfectly with yours. Their creativity inspires you and their enthusiasm pushes you.

Alex McClelland is, of course, my creative soul mate in so many ways. We get outrageously excited when we start a new project. She makes me laugh, makes me think, and makes me thankful to have found such a good friend.

Meagan Massa Hankin is my sister from another mister. I met her almost 5 years ago at work. She took me under her wing and taught me her ways, for better or worse. ;)

The three of us decided to collaborate on a project a bit different than anything we'd ever done before. Well, it turned out to be very different than anything we had done before and I'm completely in love with it.

Our concept was Gatsby Meets Grunge. We wanted the feminine, Old Hollywood aspects of the 20's mixed with the rough-around-the-edges feel of 90's grunge. What we ended up with was a beautifully unique mix of fashion and beauty, rolled up into a package only Meagan could pull off.

I used dark, smokey shadow on Meagan's lid and a muted, burnt blush for her cheeks. I kept her porcelain skin very matte, with a very light highlight along her cheekbones and the bridge of her nose. I exaggerated her brows with a liner pencil in a dark brown to give the quintessential 20's look. I finished her look off with a mixture of two lipsticks to create this blackcherry lip.

It's always a pleasure to work with Alex on passion projects like this one. It stretches our creative legs and forces us out of our comfort zone. I couldn't be happier with the way these photos look! Such a beauty!
